Artist Statement by Nashville Interior Designer Sarah Jane Nelson
I create interior spaces that tell a story and evoke emotion. Working across a wide range of design styles for both commercial and residential, I custom tailor the space considering my clients needs through creative use of color, luxurious fabric, tile, beautiful woodworking, locally and internationally sourced fine art with a focus on curating furnishings that meet the functional and organizational needs while elevating the experience of those who inhabit the space.
The project below was inspired by the vintage lacquered wood and brass coffee table set. The unit is located in the Spence Manor where Elvis stayed in the 1960’s, so I kept the space fun and functional with whimsical touches to delight the Air B&B guests visiting Nashville.
When it comes to working on new construction or remodeling projects with real estate investors, my long career in Nashville real estate comes into play as I am able to make design decisions that will help the space sell faster and avoid the pitfalls that I have witnessed in my many years walking buyers through homes and getting firsthand feedback of what works and what doesn’t.
Below are before and after photos of staging for a real estate client. The house had been on the market for 120 days with no offers and poor feedback. After staging design and new photos, it sold in one weekend.
